Caz saves put Park through in penalty shoot out

Scorers: Elena McGrath		 This was going to be a test for Park with Beecholme Blues from the Premier. Park were sent out to show that their first game was no one off and they did themselves proud.
The game started well for Park as they pushed up and made the early running. Sarah, Beth and Elena showed some good inter play and went close on more than one occasion. Half way through the first half Emily made a strong run up the wing only to find herself floored when she trod on the ball and went flying, she was ok, if a bit shaken. Rebecca came on and played a good pass to Elena who hit a sweet shot high into the goal. Beecholme came out in the second half determined to get back and with strong performances from Charlotte, Honor and Beth along with some great saves by girl of the match, Caroline, we kept Belles out. Sarah and Elena had chances to kill the game but the Belles defence held firm. With the game coming to a close they finally got a goal and it was into extra time. Park set up to control the first half and then have a go, this worked well as the Belles came out and Park made use of the room but again could not get past the goal keeper who was having a good game. With time running out Elena broke free and closed in on goal when she was tackled going down hard on her left knee, after that she could not carry on and we went into Penalties. Yet again the teams could not be separated, after the first five it was 1-1 and then came sudden death. Belles stepped up and Caroline pulled off yet another top save. It was all down to Rebecca, in her first game. She went out with the word, "just hit the target". She did this well and Park were in the next round. Well done to all the girls this was a hard fought win.
