Park got off to a slow start with NPL having most of the possession. Keeper Bobby Griffin was tested early on but was to pull out a man of the match performance with a portfolio of stunning saves throughout the match. Park finally started to settle, playing some better and attractive football. The ball broke free in the midfield and Capt Jack Usherwood had a great shot from long range for the keeper to fumble it and put it out for the corner. Park were getting to grips in the midfield late on in second half with Connor Barnes breaking up the oppostions attack. This was followed up by the back line with Ben Varley and Oliver Greeves being instrumental again. The forwards were lively as ever. Park were hit on the counter just before the break and luckily escaped after the ball smashed off the inside of the post. Half-time and although Park weren't dominating still a great performance.
2nd half and Park came out of the blocks flying. Josh Horton was unlucky with a shot which just went wide. 5 minutes in and Park were building up the pressure. A shot came in from the left and the goalie just got to it but fumbled it out. There was a rush of panic from the oppositions defence and Park were trying their best to get a foot in to put it in the back of the net. Until it fell to Josh Horton he hit as best he could the goalie fumbled it again and it looked like it went over the line, the crowd thought so & so did the coach. But the Linesman ruled it out. Park going through an unlucky spell of late and still hadn't changed. The game opened up as NPL surprisingly took off there big fella in the midfield. End to end stuff from both teams. Bobby Griffin showed great courage & bravery to come out for a one on one, which the attacker looked certain to score but Bobby blocked his path.
Park eventually fell with only 3 mintues to go, they were hit on the counter by a long ball and the attacker slotted home. Park hearts broken as they fall to another devestating defeat after such a great performance again. The luck isn't riding with us at the moment, but all will change. I'm very proud of the boys to have such a great team spirit to put in a performance like they did after last weeks harsh defeat. Good things will come to this club but again this is another very harsh lesson but all part of the building process. To get nothing but compliments from the oppositions manager is something the boys should take in. He said we are the hardest team they've had to play so far and we'd be a great team in future.
