U12 Boys undone at the last | |
| Date 06/10/07 Venue: Away Competition: League Opponents: Epsom Eagles Result L 1-2 Scorers: Josh Horton |
Another harsh lesson learnt by Park in an undeserved loss. 1st half Park started the brighter and created more chances than Eagles. Park were playing some good football going forward and looked secure at the back. Connor Barnes was the driving force in the midfield and leading by example. Kyren Ghumra was leading the back-line very well. At Half-time it was 0-0 and Park had played the better of the two by miles. 2nd half and Park got the stroke of luck they deserved after a well worked pass to the left towards Terry Braker, he cut inside and crossed the ball into the danger area only for Eagles defender to hand-ball it. Park were awarded a penalty and up stepped Josh Horton who has been in inspirational form in the last few games scoring 2. Josh calmy slotted home. to put Park 1-0 up. A wave of attacks started as Park kept the pressure on for the second goal. A lovely through ball from Capt Jack Usherwood fed to Ildi Muka who thought he had scored the 2nd only for the keeper to push it over the bar. Again Park kept attacking and a great ball through by Connor Barnes put in Josh Horton, but it came back off the post. Again Park unlucky and denied another goal. Lat 10 minutes of the match and Park lost concentration for a split second and Eagles pounced on their mistakes to put the ball in the back of the net. 1-1 but massively undeserved. Park kept going but seemed to tire in the later stages. Unfortunately Park fell asleep again and Eagles winger hit a terrific shot into the top corner. Another lesson to be learnt and Park will only improve with experience. Toby Quelch was man of the match with a fantastic performance at left back again. The loss was very harsh but roll on next week. I can only praise the boys for all their efforts. |
