New kids secure first win of the season in style
10th September 2006
NEW kids on the block Queens Park U13s have made their mark in their debut
game, playing in Epsom & Ewell Division One to win 5-3.
Playing at Hook this was always going to be a tough game to start the season but QPFC showed their colours from the off.
Playing uphill they made things difficult for the home side, with several near misses before Dan Oliver opened the scoring. With increased confidence it wasn't long before striker Sam Varley made it 2-0.
Lad of the match Jorden Bartlett opened the second-half in style, scoring Queens Park's third within 30 seconds.
Midfielder and captain Samuel Honey scored the fourth shortly afterwards and the game looked sewn up, but Hook started to play more strongly and soon made it 4-1.
A strong run through the Hook midfield by Varley, with an angled finish into the top left corner gave him his second and Queens Park their fifth goal of the day.
Despite a strong finish and two more goals by Hook, Queens Park won their first competitive game.
This was a great result and a strong and solid performance
from the defence alongside a couple of great saves from Luke Harvey and some lightning fast runs from QPFC's strikers show that they could be a force to be reckoned with in the league.
