Park survive late scare
1st October 2006

Having dominated most of the game Queens Park had to survive a late two-goal scare before running out 3-2 winners over Epsom & Ewell Colts in their U13 league encounter.

With the advantage of the blustery conditions, it was the visitors who started the brighter and looked to open the scoring. Their best chance came after 10 minutes from a corner but Luke Harvey smothered the shot. After this Park started to dominate and put together a number of promising moves. Ryan Sandford hit the side netting after a neat exchange between Paul Holliman and Sam Varley and James Rumble fizzed a shot just over, from 18 yards.

Park took a deserved lead on 25 minutes when Samuel Honey found the top corner from wide on the right. The rest of the half saw more Park pressure but it remained 1-0 at half time.

The second half started much as the first had finished with Queens Park in control. A second goal came as Zach Williams bundled the ball home, captitalising on indecision in the Colts defence. Chances then came thick and fast, with Varley, Sandford, Bartlett, Fitzgerald and Williams all going close before another Honey run caused havoc and he slotted home Park's third.

With injury time looming, Park were comfortably on top, but then an attack of the jitters marred what had been, a very solid defensive performance and two goals were conceded in quick succession A nervy last couple of minutes followed before the final whistle went and Queens Park recorded their second victory of the season.
