Girls continue to learn
5th November 2006

The girls finally played a game after what seems to be a month with no game. We waited in the cold of a November morning as Carshalton had not turned up and when we thought that we would not get a game they final arrived after getting lost. The first half started well with Danielle Bebbington, Charlotte Virley and new girl Lily McLoughlin in defence and Harriet Thorne, Emily Hibberd and Simone Fitzpatrick in the centre. This gave us a formation that could push up but cover. This worked as we passed the ball well with calling and some good one-two’s. We even managed to get round the back for a cross on more than one occasion.

With Caroline Hird-Jones in goal playing well, we gave a good account of ourselves. Carshalton scored when the Park girls gave a girl more space than the others and she shot low and hard into the corner. This was the first time she had got away from Lily who in her first game gave a strong account of herself.

Beth Woolman, Sarah Jauffur and Honor Roarty came on to carry on the good work with Park making the most of the play. The second half saw Carshalton push on and Park dropped the work rate. Again it showed that we are in the wrong division and despite all the good play we soon conceded again. I could not blame the girls as this was the best performance we have had and maybe that goal or may I dare say a win could be round the corner. Well done girls..
