The absence of Steve Williams gave substitute Managers, Maurice and Terry, a chance to play a 2-2-2 formation.
The Tigers team talk and pre-warm up paid off in the first half. They started as the stronger side with both Joel and Joe upfront. However it seemed that the gods were not smiling on them as early chances were not turning into goals. It took the tiger’s captain, George Simsion, to put them ahead in the 12th min with a close range shot that left the keeper standing.
Badgers created few breaks in the first half, but when they did, it was often dealt with by Andrew and Thomas.
The half time break enabled a change in the team and saw Sonny, Matt Hewitt and Harry come on for the first time of the match.
With the Tigers now facing the sun and playing uphill the Managers were determined, not to play a defensive game. However the Badgers came out guns blazing after the break and both defence and the Queens Park goalie Matt Wise had to work harder keeping a revitalized team at bay. The Badgers persistence paid off with a half way lob that miraculously went in to make it 1-1. This did not phase the Tigers who still pushed forward and created chances but as before luck was not on their side. Both teams were now looking for the winner which eventually fell to Badgers, with a low range shot, which found its way through the Tigers defence to make it 2-1. The Tigers went looking for the equalizer right until the end, but a string of saves and near misses meant all three points went to Brockham Badgers.
Tigers stand in manager Maurice: “This was my first game in charge and I learnt a lot from it. That said I was pleased with the boy’s performance and the 2-2-2 formation, which appeared to work for most of the game. Who knows if Matt Wise was not blinded by the sun we could have come away with at least a point. "
