Park share spoils in league opener
16th September 2006
Queens Park started their league campaign sharing the points with a resiliant
Epsom & Ewell team.
Park took the lead and were unluck not to increase this hitting the inside
of the post, Park were playing well and Ewell could not get a look in.
The goal came from Matthrew Hewitt, a bit of a scuff shot that just made
it inside the post. Matthew Wise was unlucky when, after some good work
down the wing from George Simsion, Sunny Newbury and Ian Williams, finishing
with what should have been a goal but the ball hit the post and went along
the line out the other side.
With 5 minuets to go Ewell came to life and scored with a quick break that
caught Parks midfield out. From the restart Ewell pinched the ball and
did the same again, a well taken goal that rocked Park back.
Two one down and having most of the play, Park came out in the second half
still stunned Ewell took advantage of this and were making all the play,
Park needed all the defensive skill of Andrew Auletta and Thomas Skilton,
not to forget keeper Harry Milton just to keep them from scoring again.
As the half was coming to an end Park started to find there way again and
it was some fine saves from the Ewell keeper that kept Joel Sandford and
Joe Bond out but it was Matthew Hewitt that popped up with a timely equalizer.
This was a game of two halfs and two team that worked hard in the end a
good result for both.
