Tigers go out fighting
14th October 2006
Park travalled to Horsley in the hope that they could pull off an upset.
The game started well with Joel Sandford, Sonny Newbury and George Simson
linking well down the right and Thomas Skilton on the Left. Soon Park had
a corner and Horsley did not clear the ball dropping into the goal area
and Sonny struck it into the roof of the goal.
Horsley came back strongly but with Andrew Auletta, Ian Williams and Matthew
Wise standing strong they did not get anywhere.
Harry Milton and Matthew Hewitt came on and made their presence felt. Just before half time a good run down the left from Horsley finished with a good strike and the ball was in the goal.
The second half saw Jo Bond work hard in the centre but it was a half that
Horsley stepped up and Park were found wanting. Horsley played well and
as hard as Park tried they could not get through to take the chances they
made. Horsley made the most of theirs and when Park pushed forward to try
to get back into the game they got caught out and Horsley made the game
safe with two fine goals.
A cup game that Park must take the positives from and move on.
